I would like to invite you to the Girl
Power Day, hosted by the Louisville Girls Leadership (LGL), from 10
a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 24 at Avalon and Luna, 1413 Bardstown
Road, Louisville. The event is free and open to the public.
Join us in saluting the inherent
capacity of girls everywhere to change the world in which they live through
advocacy and action.
Come sign the petition asking
Sen. McConnell to support ratifying Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of
Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). You can
read more about it at www.unifem.org/cedaw30.
At 11 a.m., I will read a Citation from
the Kentucky Senate recognizing the work of the LGL. In addition, LGL
will be premiering the LGL rap video, featuring the LGL girls, of
course, along with President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama look-a-likes.
There also will be readings by members of the LGL on why CEDAW is
important.
There will be refreshments and
music, as well as Girl Power Day t-shirts for sale. Donations for the cause are
always welcome. Within walking distance will be the Cherokee Triangle Art Fair.
Attached is the Girl Power Day
poster. Please share with friends and families. Hope to see you Saturday!
Thank you!
Denise
