FRANKFORT – A schedule for the Kentucky General Assembly’s 2009 session was approved today by legislative leaders.
The session is scheduled to last 30 working days – the maximum allowed by the state constitution in even-numbered years.
The first part of the session convenes on Jan. 6 and adjourns Jan. 9. The second part of the session convenes on Feb. 3 and adjourns sine die on March 24.
Legislators will not meet on Feb. 16, in observance of Presidents’ Day.
The veto recess – the period of time in which lawmakers commonly return to their home districts to see which bills, if any, the governor chooses to veto – will last from March 10 to March 20, with lawmakers returning to the Capitol on March 23 for the final two days of the session.
