Democrats will dramatically increase their majority in the U.S. Senate by capturing nine Senate seats and not losing any of the Democratic incumbents. In Louisiana, Democrat Incumbent Landau will prevail over Republican Kennedy. Republicans incumbents will prevail in Maine and Mississippi. Senator Joe Lieberman will still play a role in the Democratic Caucus as he will be needed to make the 60 count for filibuster purposes.
Democrats will take the following nine Republican seats:

Colorado - Democrat Udall over Republican Schaffer
Kentucky - Democrat Lunsford over Republican McConnell
Minnesota - Democrat Franken over Republican Coleman
New Mexico - Democrat Udall over Republican Pearce
New Hampshire - Democrat Shaheen over Republican Sununu
North Carolina - Democrat Hagen over Republican Dole
Oregan - Democrat Merkly over Republican Smith
Virginia - Democrat Warner over Republican Gilmore
