DRTED’S PREDICTIONS FOR THE KY’S STATE SENATE RACES

1^st Senate District (Far Western KY).  Carroll Hubbard in another squeaker over Kenneth Winters.  Hubbard almost won in neighboring district in 2006. This is a better district for him.

9^th Senatorial District (Barren County). Steve Newberry (D) will easily beat David Givens(R) and Gary Elliot (Ind).

 23^rd Senator District:  Groob (D) vs. Westwood(R) in a squeaker.  It’s the casinos, dummy.  Westwood, the incumbent State Senator, is so against casinos that he does not even want a ballot referendum on this issue. 

The following Democrats will best their Republican opponents easily:

Perry Clark, Denise Harper Angel, Joey Pendleton, Kathy Stein, and Tim Shaughnessy.

The composition of the 2009 KY Senate will be:

            19 Republicans
            17 Democrats
            1 Independent
