Over 12,000 Active and Retired Members of IUE/CWA Local 761
FRANKFORT --- Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Dr. Daniel Mongiardo announced today that he has won the support of Louisville’s IUE/CWA Local 761, representing more than 12,000 active and retired workers at General Electric’s (GE) Appliance Park.
Steven Wimsatt, chairman of IUE/CWA Local 761’s Committee on Political Education (COPE), said, “As we in organized labor seek a champion who will speak out in our nation’s capitol for those who cannot afford a lobbyist, or those whose voices will not be heard above the clamor of the mighty, we endorse Dr. Daniel Mongiardo.”
Mongiardo said, “I am sincerely thankful for the support of IUE/CWA Local 761 members. For too long, Washington has been working just fine for the Wall Street Banks and big corporations that ship our jobs overseas. It’s time to get Washington working for Main Street again.”
“I plan on giving the U.S. Senate a strong dose of Kentucky commonsense to get our economy moving and create new jobs. When it comes to Kentucky families, I will hold the Washington insiders and special interests accountable. I did it as a doctor. I did it as a State Senator. And I will continue to do that as a United States Senator.”
The endorsement of the IUE/CWA workers at GE’s Appliance Park adds to Mongiardo’s growing support in Jefferson County, the home of his main rival for the Democratic nomination – Jack Conway. Mongiardo is the Democratic frontrunner for the U.S. Senate and leads by 16 to 18 points in recent independent polls.
