Senator Mitch McConnell has led (somewhat successfully) the fight against campaign finance laws. He had a victory of sorts when the Supreme Court overturned portions of the McCain-Feingold Election Reform Act of 2002. Senator McConnell has claimed that campaign finance reform violates First Amendment rights of free speech.
