Kentucky is at a crossroads with respect to its future, with multiple global, national, and state trends and forces affecting our collective well-being. This conference will explore these trends and forces, speculate on how they will affect the state, and discuss various ideas to put Kentucky on a prosperous path to the future. In addition to a morning keynote address by economist Dan Crippen, a former director of the Congressional Budget Office, a lunchtime Hellard Award presentation by journalist Al Smith to civic activist Sally Brown, and an afternoon panel moderated by KET's Bill Goodman on big ideas for catapulting Kentucky forward, there will be eight concurrent sessions on topics ranging from aging to transportation (see below).
