Inhisspeechthisweek,BushechoedHoover:“ThetemptationofWashingtonistosaythatanythingshortofamassivegovernmentinterventioninthehousingmarketamountstoinaction.
TheunfortunatesimilaritiesinthesestatementsandattitudesledSen.ChuckSchumer(D-NY)toofferthisobservationonFoxNewsthismorning:
ThePresidentisindeedbehavinglikeHerbertHoover.We’reinthemostseriouseconomicproblemwe’vebeenininaverylongtime—muchworsethan2001.ThePresident’shands-offattitudeisreminiscentofHerbertHooverin1929and1930.
